Teddy's Button

I picked up this book when the Church where I used to go to choir got rid of their library.
It's a Christian "propoganda" book about war and Christianity: it's called Teddy's Button. Teddy's a kid who wants to be a soldier and who wants to be a Christian.
I didn't read it in its entirety.
I liked the age of the pages.
It's now altered, with photographs I took like the one below (from Mt St Michel, 2006ish)
Like most books I altered, I cut out some windows and niches

The frontispiece shows it's a prize for Junior Boys in 1965.
It's written by Amy Le Feuvre. I had a book which I received from my own Presbyterian Church in the early 1970's by the same author.

the foxing and rust on the pages just add to the charm. The photo above is an architectural detail from one of my trips to Chicago.

The boatshed at the Mental Hospital where we went for art one day - Margaret Westcott teaches / runs classes there.

This is the headlight of a vintage car which was parked near my house for a while.

Handles in the picture above come from the Bright Tobacco Sheds where I spent a joyous long time photographing stacks of things all sorted beautifully.

Beads from a craft fair.

More Bright photos: spanners

Photo of knives from Sturt one year.

Gentlemen's Publishers

This book, a Gentleman Publishers Commonplace Book, had some lovely illustrations inside. I never finished altering it, so these are just some of the pages I decorated.
I was playing with altered letters.
I got the book from a bookshelf at the Church where I used to go to choir: they were tossing out their library and I took a few hard backs.
The decoration is in pencil
